At MRE, supporting our community is more than just a corporate goal, it is a core part of our culture. This past ride weekend, that commitment took us to the open roads for the Bike MS: ACC Texas MS 150. Bringing our team together to support the mission of ending multiple sclerosis, we joined thousands of others to turn personal grit into collective impact.
It was a weekend of endurance, Texas heat, and the kind of camaraderie that only comes from working toward a cause bigger than ourselves.
“It was a great weekend,” shared Angelica Garza. “The beginning of each day was overcast and breezy. This was wonderful for the riders. Then the sun appeared and was brutally harsh on the riders coming in later. Our riders did such an amazing job and were so inspiring!”
For Trinh Nguyen, the weekend was a mixture of running into old friends and the practical realities of a long-distance haul. “My favorite moment was running into Bob! At each rest stop, I relied on a few shots of pickle juice to help manage muscle cramps along the way. My advice for future riders is to: enjoy the ride first and feel the pain later.”
While the riders provided the pedal power, the MRE support crew provided the backbone of the weekend. Their presence was felt at every stop, ensuring that logistics were the last thing on our athletes’ minds.
“As a rider, the MRE support team made a significant difference in my bike ride experience from beginning to end. They turned the ride into not just a challenge, but a fun and memorable adventure. Thank you, MRE support team!”- Trinh Nguyen.
Angelica echoed that sentiment, highlighting the seamless coordination behind the scenes. “The support team, myself included, were great. We had setup ready for riders coming in with plenty of food and drinks. Transport to the hotel was efficient and gave riders time to really unwind. The hotel was a great place, the beds were comfortable and the conference room was just right to get dinner together for everyone.”
An event of this scale doesn’t happen without meticulous planning. We want to extend a huge thank you to Jessica Richardson our Team Capitan and Maria Romero for their tireless work in organizing the logistics, the accommodations, and the morale-boosting details that made the weekend a success. As Angelica put it, “Shoutout to Jessica and Maria on the planning! They did an amazing job organizing everything!”
Congratulations to all our riders and a deep thank you to our supporters and donors. With your support we were able to raise $105,216.61 for the National MS Society!
We are already looking forward to the next time we can hit the road as Team MRE.
