We are thrilled to announce that MRE Consulting is joining Infosys, together spearheading consulting services and digital transformation in the Energy & Utilities sector. Co-founders and long-time friends, Mike Short, Shane Merz, and Dru Neikirk share their thoughts and vision on what this means for the future.
Our 31-Year Journey
When we founded MRE in 1994, our vision was to create a consulting firm where professionals were empowered to balance career vs. life goals, within a merit-based culture that rewarded individual performance but departed from the stark up-or-out structure of the big consulting firms.
Our early projects were trailblazers in developing custom commodity trading and risk management (CTRM) systems well before package solutions emerged. We mastered the complexity of enabling front-to-back processes, modeling risk, and managing market exposure – establishing MRE as the trusted partner for digital transformation in the Energy & Utilities industry. Building on this foundation, we expanded beyond CTRM (both custom and package) to encompass customer relationship management as well as data and infrastructure management, leveraging deep expertise in Salesforce and Microsoft, to further reinforce our services.
Our goal has never been to simply provide a service—we strive to add real value to our clients and be a strategic partner in their success. We remain committed to growing and evolving as a leading consulting partner and empowering our clients to stay at the forefront of technology. What began as discussions with Infosys to collaborate on individual projects, evolved into something greater. With each conversation, it became clear that we not only shared strong business synergy but also shared values and mutual respect, making a long-term partnership a natural fit.
