Superheroes Save the Day! Child Advocates Superhero Run a Success.

October 21, 2024

This year’s Child Advocates Superhero Run was another one for the books! This year’s event was a huge success, raising an incredible $115,000 for Child Advocates. The event was a colorful explosion of costumes, laughter, and community spirit. It was a heartwarming experience to see so many people come together to support Child Advocates in their mission to protect children from abuse.

Team MRE was thrilled to be the presenting sponsor again this year for this amazing event. It was an action-packed day handing out cookies, giving out prizes, playing Plinko, and cheering on all the amazing runners as they crossed the finish line. Not to mention all the incredible costumes and memorable moments!

As Zoey Barker put it, “My favorite moment was seeing all the kids dressed up and getting to pretend to be their favorite superhero! I would encourage others to also volunteer at future superhero runs because it is a great cause and getting to see the children have fun at the event reminds you to not take life too seriously.”

“It feels wonderful to know that something as simple as showing up and giving up a Saturday can positively impact such a great organization. It is why I keep volunteering year after year. Plus, I love seeing all the excited kids dressed up and happy!”- Tiphanie Wood, Volunteer.

“I liked knowing that I was helping make a small difference for an organization that helps improve abused children’s lives.” – Diego Carrasco, Volunteer.

“Seeing the kids’ faces and interacting with them is my favorite part of the day. But also hanging with the MRE Crew. It is an easy way to help Child Advocates, and it doesn’t feel like your typical volunteer opportunity. This event is a very rewarding experience, and you get to have so much fun!”- Anthony Martinez, Volunteer.

“It is always an amazing feeling to be able to give back, especially to such a great cause. It’s an awesome time and a great experience! You get to hang out with a lot of amazing people and give back to a great cause.”- Declan Brose, Volunteer.

“I loved getting to see the determination and strategies of all the kids (and adults) while playing our Plinko game. Getting to celebrate with them when they won a prize was a lot of fun. I also appreciate having the opportunity to get to know other MRE staff who I don’t normally cross paths with.”- Madeline Sandhop, Volunteer.

Overall, it was a memorable day filled with fun, laughter, and a shared commitment to making a difference for Child Advocates. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Superhero Run!

Congrats to Zac Dorman for taking first place in his age division, in the 5k!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered or participated in this year’s race!
